Morgan’s interest and practice of Pilates began when she was a fourteen-year-old dancer, using the mat work to aid and enhance her dance training, strength, and flexibility. Throughout her dancing career, she religiously took mat work to increase her strength and stability, while challenging her body in dance. Morgan graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a BFA degree in Dance Education. While at Arizona State, Morgan performed in several dance venues. In addition to her performance credits, Morgan was hired into East Valley high schools to teach about muscle, posture, and health. She attributes this opportunity to her love and aptitude for kinesiology. Morgan spent a semester abroad in Australia. In Australia, Morgan developed an after-school program where students could take technique dance classes as well as showcase their choreography. Immediately following her college graduation, Morgan pursued Pilate’s education certification in Chicago, Illinois.

Michelle Lopez
Certified Instructor
Michelle Lopez Michelle has made movement an essential part of her journey through wellness for over ten years. She first started in her early twenties committing regularly to weight training, kick boxing, running, spinning and Yoga. It was first through the discovery of Pilates how she found a deeper connection to mind body wellness. She says, "In my experience, Pilates is an intelligent and well integrated form of exercise that can be tailored to every fitness level. From athletic conditioning, to post rehab training, or to improve posture...everyone can benefit! And it is a great way to be present in your own body and in the moment, which then leads to reduced stress and connectedness, for a stronger mind and body." In her thirties, after going through major life changes that left her feeling lost and depressed, she found refuge and nourishment in the healing science of Yoga. Mindfulness became her everyday practice. Learning how to take care of body, mind, and soul became her focus. Michelle says: "In order to make it through life's challenges we must be present in everything that we do. Mindfulness is about awareness and tuning into our own true self. This is where we make the most lasting changes, and find the power within". She now spends her time enjoying nature, trail running and hiking, practicing Yoga, Pilates, meditation, trying out simple recipes made from organic whole foods, spending time with loved ones, always in search of connectedness and balance.

Karen Liggett
Certified Instructor

Karen Liggett is a STOTT PILATES® certified instructor in both mat and reformer and has been teaching Pilates for eight years. Karen graduated from the University of Puget Sound in l985 with a degree in Exercise Science and has worked steadily in the fitness industry since that time. She is certified by the American Council on Exercise. From 1996-2003 Karen was the group fitness coordinator for Arizona Athletic Club and launched her first Pilates program. She now teaches part-time for Club One, a corporate fitness contracting company employed by Motorola, and she teaches at the beautiful Aji Spa at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort.

In 2003, with two years of STOTT PILATES® teaching under her belt, Karen knew it would become her future career focus. When Karen was introduced to the Pilates method, she knew the movement was very similar to what she had experienced as a child, having been a student of acrobatics and dance. Her teachers were from the Joseph Pilates era and she is convinced that they were well aware of Pilates’ work and incorporated it into their teaching style. The beauty, fluidity and discipline of dance and acrobatics resonated with Karen then and still does. Karen’s passion for Pilates has become a way of life that goes far beyond being just a physical fitness activity. To Karen it is truly a movement discipline for the ages.

Karen is happily married to Lance and they have two daughters Shelby and Micah.

Julie Radney is a trained STOTT PILATES® instructor in comprehensive mat work and essential and intermediate reformer. Julie holds a B.S. in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University where she graduated with honors in 2006 as well as a Degree of Associates in General Studies with an emphasis in Dance Studies from Chandler Gilbert Community College. Her first exposure to Pilates was in 2001 where she was introduced to it as a part of her dance program. She underwent STOTT PILATES® training in 2011 and began working under Lisa as an apprentice at the Arcadia studio. Prior to The Pilates Body, Julie worked as a lead physical therapy technician for 5 years where she gained valuable experience working with injured and special populations, as well as athletes.

Subsequently she worked for over 4 years at the Sonoran Spine Center as a medical assistant under a pain management physician and a group of orthopedic spine surgeons. She gained knowledge in a variety of spine conditions and treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, and became educated in the specialized needs of these patients both during and after treatment. Seeing the rehab and clinical sides of injured populations, especially that of the spine patient, motivated her to want to use her knowledge of the human body and her Pilates experience to help people outside of the clinic.

Julie loves working in a private studio setting to help prevent injury, improve posture, and overall health of the whole person, mind and body. In addition, Julie is a dance instructor to young children and adults in a variety of genres including ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary dance. She enjoys swimming, archery, and is an avid outdoor enthusiast.

She lives in east Mesa with her husband Adam and their young son Beau.

Lisa and Carolyn met in 2009, but Carolyn would not join the Pilates Body team until 2014.
